Who We Are
The Association was established on February 15, 1944 under the name of "Alberta Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association". In 1982, the name was changed to its present name, "Southern Alberta Rabbit Breeders Association".
We are a non-profit society, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the domestic rabbit industry by providing information to the members and any interested person regarding domestic rabbits as to their value; whether it be for commercial, exhibition, 4H, hobby or pet purposes.
Our association is a chartered member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. As an active association, we hold numerous displays and shows, as well as publishing a newsletter for our members.
Over the years, our club has been involved in various projects. In 1962, a processing plant for commercial rabbits opened, closing down in 1971. In 1969, the association hosted the ARBA Show and Convention with the motto "Cross the Line in '69". It was a well-atteneded show for the time, with about 3000 rabbits entered.
